In terms of management, there is a great issue concerning the different functioning of the employees of any organization. One of the main issues that have to be dealt with is the different aspects of the cultural settings of the different individuals’ workings in the different cultures. Some employees from certain cultures require certain management styles that do not require extreme supervision as they have the impression that they know what they are doing. In the case of supervision, they may feel that their space is invaded and thus cannot perform optimally. Some of the other key human resource management issues include the different staffing policies that organizations have in different places. In Elms et al. (2013), there is an argument that in some cultures, some people like the promotion of employees from the same organization as opposed to the appointment of totally new employees to head a particular department. This may lead to reduced work performance and reduced staff morale. Additionally, some countries have certain legal frameworks that do not allow the recruitment of members of other countries as the locals of the host nation have to be given priority while selecting the new employees. This may affect the firms immensely as the local individuals who are selected are not in a position to perform in the manner that is required. According to O’Hagan and Ashworth (2002), the other issue is the compensation packages that the locals may require. In terms of communication, there are different cultures globally that have different communication cues. In the event, that the individual communicating these type of information uses the different non-verbal cues, the other individual may feel offended if the latter does not comprehend what the nonverbal cues means in the other culture. A case in point is whereby a manager uses a thumbs up to applaud an employee. In some of the middle Asian countries, the use of a thumbs up is a gesture of insult, and this may not bode well with the local individuals (Nikoi and Boateng, 2014).
In terms of technology, the use of different media that has been recently developed may have caused a difference in information overload. Some individuals require the communication to be done in person and may find it insulting when the individuals, that they are connecting with, do not present themselves individually. The communication technologies such as the use of emails and memos appear to be sterile and impersonal. Additionally, it is almost difficult pass across the message if there are no verbal cues to in the messages that are being relayed across. Additionally, the wrong individuals may gain access to the type of information that they are not supposed to have.
