Explain how your own understanding and practice of the content of the selected Quranic verse, Prophetic hadith, and Islamic ritual shape your worldview as it compares to other worldviews

Critical thinking essay 1

The following readings, PowerPoint slides, and videos are focused on Islam as a global religion and a culture. The focus is primarily on (1) The Quran (the sacred scripture of Islam), (2) Prophet Muhammad (the man who established or re-established Islam), and (3) The Five Pillars of Islam (the five rituals incumbent on every Muslim). The main learning goal is to understand aspects of Muslims’ culture as far as they can be rooted in Islamic scriptures, Islamic prophet, and Islamic rituals. Review carefully and specifically the PowrPoint slides and select ONE Quranic verse, ONE Prophetic hadith, and ONE Islamic ritual which you found significant and relevant to our time. Write a thoughtful essay in which you (1) identify and quote the selected Quranic verse, Prophetic hadith, and Islamic ritual, (2) explain your own reasons for selecting the specific Quranic verse, Prophetic hadith, and Islamic ritual, and (3) compare your own culture or religion or value system to Islamic culture as reflected in the selected Quranic verse, Prophetic hadith, and Islamic ritual (if you consider yourself a Muslim, you might explain how your own understanding and practice of the content of the selected Quranic verse, Prophetic hadith, and Islamic ritual shape your worldview as it compares to other worldviews). While you are encouraged to bring in your own personal experience and your own cultural, political, and intellectual perspectives, you must ground your facts into the assigned course materials and ground your judgment into the facts, not the other way around.

Follow carefully these guidelines and instructions for the critical thinking essay:
1. The essay should be grounded in the ASSIGNED course materials.
2. The essay should follow carefully the following format: No cover page, 800-1000 words, 2 to 2.5 single-spaced pages, top/bottom margins of 1″/1″, right/left margins of 1.5″/1.5″, full justification (left and right alignment of the text), Times New Roman as the base font for all text/headers/footnotes, your name and Indiana State University on two lines aligned as left headers, the course title and academic term on two lines aligned as right headers, the font point size of the headers should be 11, the title should be centered and should have bold appearance and a font point size of 14, the rest of the text should have a font point size of 12 (except footnotes whose font point size should be 10), there should be four paragraphs per page, there should be one space between paragraphs, and there should be no indentation at the beginning of paragraphs.
3. You should use footnote citations at the bottom of each page according to the Notes [without bibliography] system of The Chicago Manuel of Style Online, available at:

. Keep in mind that I am NOT the author of the assigned materials (books, articles, slides, videos, currents issues in the news…). For example, when you cite a PowerPoint slide, you should provide the source (if any) cited on the slide as well as the slide number.
4. Your writing should reflect your own independent and ORIGINAL thought and your own critical thinking and synthesis.
5. Your essay should be uploaded through the TurnItIn link (View/Complete, see below) that can help detect plagiarism. No other forms of essay submission or late submission will be accepted.
