• The research objectives are guiding your literature review

Analysis and findings
• Start the analysis by restating the objectives and hypotheses/ research questions and how the analysis will demonstrate to test the hypotheses or answer research questions.
• Also include a sentence how you collected the data and which method you are using to analyse it.
• You can use your hypotheses/ research questions as sub headlines to demonstrate how they have been met. You need to rephrase them accordingly, don’t just use the hypotheses/ research questions as is.
• Don’t put in charts of demographic data if it is not relevant.
• Here only address what you were looking for! Facts not interpretation is required here.
• Refer to the discussion if there is anything unusual or unexpected.
Discussion – interpretation of findings
• Restate the objectives and link findings with objectives and literature.
• You can use the findings to structure the discussion.
• Link back to the literature from the literature reviews – don’t introduce any new literature here unless it is a surprising finding.
• This is a very important section and it is often the one that is forgotten or neglected and so points are lost!
Here you interpret your findings, your criticise them, you elaborate further, you cross-reference, you link to other studies and how your research confirms or contradicts other studies
• Should focus on the key findings in relation to the research objectives – how did the findings meet the objectives? Explain it
• Outline the contributions (this is your biggest element!) – what does the study add to the field?
• Managerial implications can be included here
• Flag up limitations or shortcomings of the study
• Give future recommendation/ suggestion how to follow it up continue etc.
Executive summary
• It is the first think markers read and the last thing you should write.
• It is a brief review of the document and should draw on all chapters.
• It is not an abstract because
◦ It is longer up to 3 pages! (Abstract 150-200 words)
◦ It reviews each chapter in a descriptive manner – summary
▪ (Abstract gives orientation and highlights key findings and contributions)
• Needs to define the problem your were looking at
◦ Include the purpose of the document
• Needs to give a solution
◦ findings, contributions, managerial implications etc.
Length of sections – indicative only
